nicest nova ever. well subtle and just well nice.

doesn't look over the top either, very nice mate.

i'm guessing you've got a pretty good job to be able to get the shell completly re-done and afford engine sprays, brand new coil overs, etc!!

keep up the good work, long live the nova!!

Cheers for the comments guys.
To answer a few Q's ...

* No i wont sell it !!
* Don't wanna know how much it cost !!
* Pretty much all the parts where 2nd hand, just spent a lot of time cleaning them up and gave them a lick of paint !!
* I'm using a 2.8 Frontera Intercooler, fits really well.
* I just used Silver Smooth Hammerite on the box.

Did you use the Smoothrite on the Block as well?

R1CH
05-11-06, 07:53 PM
Yeah used rattle cans on the box and brushed it on on the block, used rattle cans on the head & inlet to.
Done a few miles now and it all still seems ok.

but how come it took 7 months to get ti back?

Because the guy who painted it was a lazy f**ker !!!
Not the best job in the world either, but i only ended up paying ?500 to get the exterior, engine bay, roll cage & window surrounds painted, he also filled & shaped the rear arches after i'd put some repair panels in. So can't grummble to much !!!

This is the first time I've seen those finished pictures Rich and the car is very impressive! Attention to detail is what I like to see on a car and there's bundles of it on yours. Like the way you've added the interior panels. Tidies it up no end.

Looks top class! Very impressed with all the time and effort spent to get it to that standard! Well done, looks well worth it :thumb:

Like the rear coilovers and a turretted rear, where can I get hold of some because that is on my job to do list!

Custom cage? looks well....

Nah, Its a Roll Centre cage with a double diagonal, supposed to for a Nova without a dash ... just had to chop a bit out the back of the dash & mod the speaker grills to fit round the cage, looks better imo than when it comes down in front of the dash.

R1CH
25-09-08, 10:41 PM
Almost 2 year ago, christ !!

Updates ? ... pretty much just giving it a thrashing !!

Competed in a couple of Sprints with a local motorclub earlier on in the year, ended up with a few bumps and scrapes after hitting the tyre wall, not to bad tho.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/ricmetcalf/DSC00174.jpg

Only other changes were some Polycarb windows and some 3" Sabelt harnesses.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/ricmetcalf/DSC00204.jpg

Was supposed to be n Total Vauxhalls Aniversary Nova stand thingy at PVS but it melted a piston on the way down - about 30 mins away !!
AA took it home and its sat in my garage ever since !!

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/ricmetcalf/DSC00230.jpg
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/ricmetcalf/DSC00232.jpg

Sourced another engine for it, just a std one with about 90k miles, started to strip it, fitted a new front panel due to the old one having a couple of cracks where the IC mounts, tidy'd up the engine bay abit, then decided to 'freshen' everything else up on it.
All the running gear / brakes were removed / blast cleaned / repainted / re-assembled, new ball joints, front dampers rebuilt, re-undersealed the new front panel / arches / floor pan, fitted another set of ultra-sonicly cleaned injectors and a new Bosch 044 pump just incase those caused it to melt !
The cars still sat in the garage with the rear beam / fuel tank off, just needing to underseal the rear 1/2 of the floor pan & arches, clean the beam and tank up, bumpers are away getting painted, still need to get the tailgate re-painted after the tyre wall incident, then it should be all sorted.
Then its going up for sale !!!

R1CH
25-09-08, 11:15 PM
Nah wasn't at the Vaux day, was up there a few times at the start of the year tho, March / April ??
Been up a few times to run it up the 1/4 mile, bit of a trek like (about 370 mile round trip) but its good fun.
It was built to be thrashed ... no fun in polishing it all day !!

Keith

Just sick of spending loads of £££ on it, i'm wanting to buy a house so keeping the Nova on the road isn't an ideal way to save money really, should get a 1/2 decent price for it tho.
As Matt posted, i bought that GTE (got an XE in it) the other month for next to nowt so gonna turn it in to a Grass tracker (Class 6), should be able to get it all sorted ready to run for not a lotof money, plus the local club track is only about 15 mile from my house, costs about £40 a year for a licence ad about £9 to enter each event ... bargain if you ask me !!
Still like 1/4 mile racing so i'm thinking of getting a cheap Nitrous kit for it and taing it up to Crail now and again, 450 - 500kg car with an XE and Nitrous ... should be good !!

Slighty better pic of the GTE
