car wont start!

hi there

when i go to turn the ignition on in my 1.3 sr the ignition barrel at the end where the plug is starts to spark and somtimes glow. it then sterts to smoke fucking badly. what do u think it could be? does it need replacing or is the problen elsewhere?

erm, shit, just replace it m8, dont piss about trying to fix it!!!

Replace the black switch thing, about ?5 from dixons. If it is not that it could be the starter solonoid sticking (small cylinder on top of the starter motor) you could fit a new starter but they can usually be stripped and cleaned, it will be full of crap. If it won't go ever twat it with a hammer or wheel brace to unstick it.
