Ok, I am running 6.5x15" alloys, et49 with 195/50/15 tyres, the problem being that one rubs on the driver's side rear shocker on the plastic guard bit. So I had to cut it off so the sidewalls not touching, but this exposes the shock to bits of sh*te etc which has wrecked it :(
The shocks I'm using are like budget Billies, bought from PMC - anyone else had this same problem and what did u do? Do I need pencil thin shockers? or 185 tyres??? or 17's?? coz I dont' want to be having to buy new ones every month now do I..... cheers, Pat

I had the same problem, use 195/45/15`s. because 195/50`s are slightly higher the tend to bulge out more at the sides causing them to rub. I had 45`s on mine it was fine, put 50`z on it was shite so i had to get 45`s again.

Like Ian said it is the tyre. It is probably the type of tyre has some sort of lip around the edges and because nova wheels sit more to the left your getting this problem. You should be able to get a different set of 50's under there, but I'd say 45's will defiantly be ok. I had 195/50/15's on mine lowered 60mm and the rears were fine (off set 49mm), but in the end I went 4 the 45's cos the fronts wings got all bet up from the tyres.

harpo, if you lower your car you will more than likely get serious scrubbage at the back. I lowered my old SR by 35mm and had 195/50/15 tyres and had bad scrubbage, but on my GSi, I have 195/45/15 and lowering of 35mm and it is perfectly fine.

Mmmmm forbidden donut. :)

I have 195/45/16 on 7"x16" wheels 45mm offset front no probs, rear I have to use 5mm spacers to clear the shocker/inner arch. This makes the wheels in effct a 40mm offset but I have no hassel at all I don't eat wheel bearings like I'm supposed to and I do give it pain.

My cars lowered -60 mm and I run 195/50/15 and it clears, but not by much! If you corner too hard to will flex the sidewall and it'll catch. As the guys say, might be worth trying 195/45 on.

sure there 49mm offset?

mine clear easy

lowering wont mak that much diffrence to shocker clearance as when the wheels go up in the arch the shock goes with it.

u checked your back axle for nastyness?
i have seen 49mm offset wheels in 195/45 195/50 and 195/55 fitments on mine and my brothers novas and also 185/55 on zoes and we never had probs like that.
