my brother just got a german astra sport its a 1.6 8v injection and put it in a nova but the injection manifold and airflow meter look like an sri setup!! the airfow meter is in the plenum chamber just beside the throttle body!! anyone ever seen one of these?? the thing is a rocket an faster than the normal gte, is this a standard engine or did sumone change the injection system?? its 93 if that helps!

If it looks the same as a SRi engine, it doesn't have a air flow meter, it has a MAP sensor clipped onto the firewall
Sounds like a C16se engine, 100bhp.
Does it have a DISpak instead of distributor?

yep sounds like a C16SE, No AFM.

Same as Very late Nova GSI engine.
Same power as all nova gte's, but as std they have a cat on.
C16se is a better engine.

Yes it seems that's a c16se, I will swap my e16se with a c16se because this engine is easier to tune (no AFM and possibility to tune the ECU's eprom)

No looms & ECUs totally different. According to Rob Lee the engines ECU is wired into the main car loom & is a proper task to seperate the 2.

ecu and loom are different.
**edit**

Nova SRis have a loom thats is linked to the rest of the cars (where as all other novas had a seperate engine and car loom), so its likely that the very late Nova GSis with the c14se engine also had this complete loom.

However Corsa SRis had seperate looms again, so this astra may also have a seperate loom.

no the ecu was seperate from the car loom!! would an sri ecu an loom run that engine? why are these engines better than the gte ones??

There more powerful, and a better engine imo, no AFM to f**k up etc.

Corsa's have seperate engine looms
Mk3 astra Astras have seperate engine looms

Nova Sri,(c16se) GSi, and all SPI's have intergrated looms and the loom cannot be seperated without cutting the engine loom out.

Most of the loom is the same as Nova Sri, apart from the plugs for the DISpak etc as it doesn't have a dizzy.
A Nova SRi ecu would cause the engine to run lean, use a proper c16se ecu.
