View Full Version : How my engine is mounted

I have recently bought a nova that has had the 2 litre 8 valve engine put in it believe its from a cav or a calibra.

I've been told I need to seriously change the engine mounts tho as my cam belt cover is about 2mm off the front engine mount and when cornering my alternator is that close it rubs on the chassis leg!

Where can I get some cheap engine mounts to replace the standard ones and solve my problem??

Cheers people

Sounds more like the chassis leg wasnt given enough 'Percy the persuader' treatment to me!

a good inch id say to be sure. A more refined way is to cut some slits, hammer the square bit back and re-weld, but its not as good a stress reliever!

I looked on the website. and could only find the mounts for the 2 litre 16v. Is it the same mounts for the 2 litre 8 valve?

Finally got round to ordering the mounts for Chris Astley!

My engine needs a few essential parts such as water pump n cam belt doing. When I go to Vauxhall I don't know what parts to ask for as I have no idea what car the 2 litre came from.

I'm probably asking some thing really dumb here! Its a 2 litre 8 valve.

Get the engine no & the dealers will know from that. I think its on the block surface next to the headgasket, fr right corner as you look at the engine from the slam panel (bonnet open).

More than likely a Cav or a Calibra, but craigs method is foolproof.

Snould say on the block, where the box mounts to it, somewhere along there!
