has any one ever put hatch arches on a saloon?

Jack

Yup, there's a blue one that had it done. Looked poo IMO, as the rear arch just didn't look right!

thats because they were wings welded on rather than quarters so sat at different heights - but imo its better with the round arches.

Sorry I disagree. I dont think the blue one (TV cover) was done well in that respect though.

Saloons rock.. it was interesting to read that your saloon handles better than most hatches in your feature saloony.

was that his opinion though?

hell you could make a pram handle better than a saloon or hatch... its a matter of how much yoru willing to spend/your own personal driving style lol

Agreed.
Dont most hot hatches get their handling praise from having a wheel at each corner?

I reckon a saloon would be best in 4 door with hatch arches done over the rear door shut, Integrale style.

By standard don't the saloons come with a rear ARB though...?

Fr ARB as std on all engines IIRC.

I preferred my old B reg without ARBs for handling over my GSi (pre modded) ofcourse.

The girlie has a 1.3, 3 door hatch. Lowered 40mm, arb front and rear, 15'' alloys with 195/45 goodyear F1's on and i still feel that the saloon handles better a. when it had the 1.0l in and b. with the 2.0l in.

the weight balance on the saloon is the main reason why they handle due to the lardy ****. Saloon are ace as they havent really been done to death and are somthing unusual. I can see a lot of saloons being on the show scene shortly this is mainly due to the above saloon and saloonys both being very nice examples and opening peoples eyes to what can be done.

Hatch arches on a saloon is wrong.. ive never liked them, they look ace on a hatch but on a saloon nah. The arches are what makes them different :D

If you do a serch for Saloon it will bring up a few posts and no i can be ****d doing the search for you :P

Mines being broken anyways now... i had some crazy ideas and plans for it but in honesty i just want a nice and easy car which is comfy and i can use everyday without having a battered head.

Oh and they are identical to the three door hatch with regards to the sus setup.

Saloons are only ~5kg heavier than hatches though?

They're becoming much more popular now, especially so now Saloony's was in TV. Don't expect them to be the cheaper option any more!!
