The Unix nerds here all hate Windows, mainly because they don't use it. They bang on about how complicated everything is in Windows; so remembering a mahoosive command line plus half a billion options isn't?! lol

nix is ok but its a bit too wordy for my liking..... but i guess having to write ecu software on it means i need to learn some of it lmao

congratulations! That's something I'd like to do, but not really getting a chance to get that much exposure to Unix, most of our systems are Windows2k or 2k3.
does that mean the MODs systems are gonna work even less now?
You know anything of JPA and its utter ****ness??
:tard: :tard:
Im glad im not the only one sitting here scratching my head and looking rather puzzled lol!!

5 but I dont normally admit it when i dont know about something.
jkhilton, its worth looking into - maybe not the SCO qualifications (although their exams are as far as I'm aware the only open book ones), but Unix is quite widely used in a range of flavours. And once you've got the hang of one flavour, you can fudge your way through the others :)

yeah, don't know much about it but I know its crap, as thats all I hear about it lol The IT storeman is having to sort out a load of hardware for it and is not best pleased!
btw for those confused, Unix is a command line operating system - think along the lines of MS DOS. Instead of having windows and pretty icons and start buttons, you have a text screen and have to type commands in to get the server to perform tasks. Good if you know the commands, bad if you don't!
i love my pretty buttons! thank god, i also hate macs, there is no right click :wtf: haha
Ahem, there is right click on macs!! Im using an Imac and its the best bit of kit ive ever used!!
there is no right click :wtf: haha
i was showing my mum how to do somethink on the PC when we first got 1 years ago, i told her to right click on a certain folder and she changed the folder name to click lol we still laugh about it now !!
My dad's been using a PC now for about 10 years, and still doesn't grasp the basic windows concepts - double clicks everything - and thinks that because I know a bit about computers, I'm an expert at working every software straight out; and can find (and have a mental index of) any and every company's website...
Might install Unix on his PC, that'll confuse him :D
