Picked up the car on Wednesday and drove it 450miles back home with no trouble. Although with no radio and sticking to 60mph, it really took it out of me. This is the oldest car I've owned in 9 years of driving and the one with the least miles on the clock. Picked it up with 6784 miles on it. For ?600!!

Here are pics of it yesterday morning and since then I've given it a full service, washed inside and out, sorted the leaky boot and offending rear window seal, straightened the bumper irons (yes both, it was an elderly couple that had it, I'm just glad there were no yellow stains on the seats!!), de-badged the bootlid and other bits and pieces here and there. Tuesday I get the Koni -60mm suspension kit and Friday it's being fitted with a Toad immobiliser and "15 Team Dynamic Pro Race wheels (in black).

It is needing a new near side door skin (slight creased dent in it) and near side front wing and some paint here and there, but I'll leave that for early next year in the better weather and concentrate on getting the car waxoyled for the winter as it'll be living outside cause my P1 lives in the garage.

Just panels and paint for now. Need to see how I feel when the time comes. Won't be fitting a bigger engine, can't be ar$ed doing that again, plus the P1 is at hand should I need an adrenalin rush.

It was on eBay and had a reserve of ?600. It was on eBay before and sold for ?750 but it fell through and they just wanted rid of it, just a pain in the ar$e that it was so far away from me, but that's life I suppose.

This was my previous Nova project which I through a lot of love and money into.

This is my current project, not a Vauxhall I know, but an awesome machine.

Had the P1 just over a year now, got rid of my Calibra 4x4 Turbo to get it. It's the 2nd best car I've ever owned (and there's been many). The stripped and caged Nova was my favorite.

I wouldn't say it was more fun, but I built it up from an insurance write off to how it looked in the photos. At 5 years of ownership, it's the car I've had the longest and still had it 4 months after I got the P1. It was like a part of the family. It was a real laugh on the road and surprised a lot of folk, just cause of it's handling.

Not had any probs with the P1, currently sitting at just under 70k on the original engine, never missed a beat. Have had to change a few things to aid reliability like custon re-map including slight over-fueling to cylinder 3, revert back to standard airbox & knock sensor. It does offer a more exilarating drive than the Nova, but I could drive the Nova all day long and love it just as much if not more.
