View Full Version : rust proofing holes
i am going to be drill holes in the floor soon to mount my seats whats the best way of rust proofing them ?
i know could spray some primer on them but when the bolts are tightened it will take the paint of the edges of the holes

Can treat metal with Kurust, puts a kind of barrier on metal. Paint then waxoyl.
Or if you prime then paint & tighted up bolts when paint is still wet it wont flake and it will seal it.

Primer is porous and won't offer any protection from rust. I've always used fibreglass resin when doing anything like this.

splodge of sticky thick paint (hammerite) & when assembling use a splodge of vaseline to seal out moisture, or better still seam sealer from the underside.

galvafriod zinc paint and a big dollop of waxoyl ...luvverly

if no one will see the hole put abit of red oxide paint on it.
