if you want good results then any area you want to paint needs to be totally degreased and free of debris etc. then just ban on some hammerite for the block and HT paint for the head

hammerite tends to go a bit brittle with heat (and discolours).

to be fair most paint wont take proper heat and still stay shiney, you want the head enameld in that case lol

If your using hammerite make sure you use sprays as hammerite doesnt brush on too well.

I used interior/exterior Focus DIY black gloss for my block lol
Has stayed on fine, and is still shiny.

It just took a while for the paint to "burn in" and stop stinking when the engine got warm/hot,Lol.

Depends what ive had night before really mate? lol

On a serious note, i know it aint shiny but my mate sprayed his Civic VTi (booo) engine with high temperature paint that has sort of a crackle effect, hard to explain but looks smart

TBH i wouldnt paint it black, harder to spot oil leaks!!!

It smelt for about 50miles or so,Lol.
Like burning paint fumes, probably toxic too,Lol.

But i also had my head/cam housing/rocker cover/4branch and entire exhaust painted too, so it wouldn't be as bad for just a block/head.

Sound now tho.
