Sony Ad (http://www.bravia-advert.com/paint/thead/)

Our latest TV ad - featuring massive paint explosions - took 10 days and 250 people to film. Huge quantities of paint were needed to accomplish this, which had to be delivered in 1 tonne trucks and mixed on-site by 20 people.

The effect was stunning, but afterwards a major clean-up operation was required to clear away all that paint!

The cleaning took 5 days and 60 people. Thankfully, the use of a special water-based paint made it easy to scrape-up once the water had evaporated.

Keeping everyone safe was also an important factor. A special kind of non-toxic paint was used that is safe enough to drink (it contains the same thickeners that are sometimes used in soups). It was also completely harmless to the skin

Odd that they decided to make such a mess when the same effect could be easily re-created with computers...Unless it was and theyre billy bullsh1ting lol

Its the hype surrounding the advert that is the marketing coup though - yes, they could have done it on computers, but for them to make such a spectacle real will cause a lot more interest and publicity. If Dar had posted a bit of text saying "this advert took us 50 computer hours to make and involved 10 media design artists", it would sound far more lame than "it took us 10 days, 250 people and xxx litres of paint".

Its like the Honda "Cog" adverts with the bits all coming together. Sure, it would have been far easier to do it in CGI, but then people wouldn't have found it quite so amazing or wanted to see it so much. Even people who've never seen the adverts have heard about them, and they've been splattered all over the internet. Probably cost a load in time and money, but the publicity its given them has been immense.

I hear what your saying, but 90% of the people who watch the advert on telly probably wont be bothered wether they actually did it, and as for the Honda advert, im no sceptic or anything, but when was the last time gravity allowed a wheel to roll UP a ramp so slowly? lol

Weights in the wheel and then balanced, something along those lines.
Thought you would have worked that out:p
