Anyone tried one of these and done reasonably before and after comparisons. Very nearly bought one at Donny as they sounded feasible but then thought if they are so marvellous why aren't all car manufacturers fitting them standard

im fitting ht leads from an aeroplane to mine(u get the cable and fit the normal plugs onto it.), u get about 10-15 bhp more with them, seriously. thing is any radio within about 10m is affected. but as i aint had a stereo for the last 6 months i aint bothered.

I think you all miss-understood the question. There is a gismo called a spitfire (not splitfire) which sits on the main coil lead. It is full of rotating discs that create 5 sparks close together rather than 1 large spark. I`ve run on super 4`s and I wasnt impressed, but unless you got highly tuned motor I dont think it makes much difference either way. Surely if Aeroplane leads gave that much power, there would be hundreds of companies making and selling em. To get 10-15 bhp you normally have to spend a good few hundred pounds, so until I see proof in the form of dyno readings, I`ll wait.

i nearly bought one of these leads myself.
The display at Donny was very convincing, he told me my 1.4SR would gain 10bhp from it because it was an old car and that my mates fiesta 1.6 zetec-s would only gain about 2bhp cos it is new.
I was also wondering if anyone had tried them as i am still thinking of buying one.
even if it is crap it has a 2 month period where you can take it back and you have 2 years warranty too.
Apparently Rolls-royce use them! along with a load of other companies.
but until Saturday i had never heard of them before.
i would have thought if it was so great it would have been in magazines!

They have been around for years. I remember them from a motor show when I was first driving 6 years ago.

I think the comment on fitting areoplance leads with the gain of 10bhp - 15bhp was a joke?!?!? was it?!?!? of corse it was :D

If the aeroplane leads are not supressed you could potentially get a stronger spark, but your neighbours will probably torch your car as it will interfere with TV and Radio signals.

i know what the spitfire thing is. my mate got on on his triumph herald kit car thing. he sed it was ace on it then i put it on mine and it did fuck all. its REALLY desgined for contact breaker ignition (ie POINTS).
The ONLY way to tune up the ignition system is to get high output coils, ignition modules and loose the fecking dizzy system!! you shouldnt get much power out but your fuel enconomy will be much more desireable due to the complete burn of the fuel so there is less need to thrash it. (hmm the ecotek valve helps the burn with more turbulance. ohh thats more economy too!!)

im not joking bout the plane leads, ny mrs dad works for BA, he fitted it to his sierra, but only the lead from the coil to the dizzy, and there were noticable gains.
when i said seriously, i meant seriously, unlike the last post i done "bond style" although i think i may still do that :)

I suppose at the end of the day its a bit like wundering if a match or a lighter is best at lighting fires. If the petrol/air mix/compression ratio is right and a spark is fed in at the right time then there's not a lot to be had from different sorts of sparks. If your engine aint so hot or has a geriatric igniton system then it probably does wonders. I think I'll save me money for petrol, after all I know that works!!B-)

Novaparts m8, When you get the leads try and get a power reading b4 and after fitting them. Should only cost ?20ish. I`m sure everyone would like to know how it goes.
