Its one of those Im bored at work threads so curiosity has got the better of melol

I never did that well at school, i didnt bother trying so i failed all my GCSE's and never went to college.

Its a choice i have always regretted so I am trying to make up for it now though and i am studying for a CGLI in Electronic engineering, After that i want to go forward and do my 16th edition qualification.

Sod all; decent GCSEs (A*, 4xA, 3xB, 1xD) but crappy A-Levels (C, D & N), an HNC, a limp photography City & Guilds thingy, couple of bits from a defunct NVQ. I left college after my A-levels as I chose work experience over a degree, ended up doing a Business L3/IT L2 NVQ (it was like teaching an eskimo how to cut ice) which fell apart as the training company went bust; then returned to college to do an HND which I flunked and got the HINC instead. I'm basically now using my current job to get at least a bit of server experience and raping it for training, which the MOD are paying for - hopefully soon will be Unixware CSA certified, have the exams coming up for that one.

If I pass the Unix CSA exam I'll go on and do the ACE one, and if I'm feeling really clever the Master ACE. Also want to get some physical networking qualifications and do that when the MOD decide they want to outsource me; if that doesn't work out then I'll learn something else. Would love photography but these days I'm crap at it so wouldn't make any money lol

I like to learn stuff, but I like to learn things I find interesting, or learn by hands on. I don't like being sat in a class, having garbage dictated to me - hence why I flunked my A-Levels and HND (good at the coding and networking but stuffed everything else!).

crap gcse's ammusing a-levels.... 2nd highest A in electronics for that year, D for physics and a U for maths lol.

then a mediocre degree from the university of disney in automotive electronics engineering.

to be honest its too many and not enough qualifications for most things i want to do. so ill self fund some prince2 training and head off into project management in a few years time

I paid attention and did pretty well.
It surprising how many people regret not concerntrating at school... I'm glad I did.

GCSE's
1 x A's (Art)
7 x B's (Science, Maths, History, English)
3 x C's (IT, French, Design tech)
1 x D's (R.E... never really understood the point in doing this)

Then did the following A-Levels
1 year of business studies (dropped out after getting to go to Prague)
B for General Studies (we all had to do this)
B for Design Technology
E for History (was ill for one exam and didnt take a re-test)

Then stayed on another year to do an AS-Level
A for 3d Design (basically Sculpture and Paper Mache)

Will be starting a web page design course in January on a monday night.

I cant remember most of my qualifications - been through so many different school exam systems!

Got decent cse's in chemistry, history, art, technology, english, average GCSE's in maths, physics then did some random 16+ course and increased my maths scopre a tad (D to C) and did social sciences (wtf?) so now I can pay my council tax on time. Went to Stafford college on "day release" from school on a Friday and learnt to eat chips at lunch time and play arcades in the student union. Also picked up an CPVE (again wtf?) in electrical and electronic engineering (sounds glamrous but its not - basically i can follow a wiring diagram and know resistor colours off by heart), basic mechanics and first aid - comes in handly with my car! lol

Went back to Stafford college and did a sh1ty and guild 418 in computer programming and information processing - learnt how to program in basic (whooo!)

Then went to Stafford school of art and did a 2 yr BTEC OND in art

then went to Sunderland University and did a 2 yr BTEC HND in Visual Information Design specialising in model making and graphic design.

That was a great course - learnt how to make moulds, minatures, basic pyrotechnics etc...

left and have done feck all since with it (apart from the modesl in what little spare time I have).

Held doen a few jobs from Royal Mail, BT, British Gas, T-Mobile and now I'm in car insurance.

Wish I could do something with my HND - need to bring my portfolio up to date though.

Like most of you - I like to do things hands on - get stuck in where I can taking things apart and trying to fix them - best way to collect "non essential" screws and bolts that you cant remember where they go!

lol
