View Full Version : Anyone got a 1200carb inlet lying about?
Could you do me a favour and measure the size of the inlet hole on it, that the carb sits on?
And, possibly put a pic up of it?
A new idea. lol
Cheers :thumb:
I've got one. I can't be ****d to get up right now as I'm watching Spooks so I'll find it tomorrow.
does it have to be a 1.2 one??

Remind me this evening :thumb:.
Yeah it has to be a 1.2 carb one, as it only has a single choke hole.
I just need the diameter of the hole.
BOOOO
Is that a good reminder? lol :)

NP. My camera just broke so I'm right f**ked off now :(.
You were thinking of a 1200 head+inlet I take it?
You were thinking of a 1200 head+inlet I take it?
Nope :D
I was trying to get more power, but unless that port hole would go to 45mm, its not much use :(

It would it you made it - how deep does the 45mm hole have to be?
IT could be opened up yeh, but i dont know how close the waterway is to that 34mm hole.
It has to be 45mm to let my throttle body valve plate to open.
Ideally it should be 45mm the whole depth of it, but if i can get the valve to fully open by just opening up the edge to 45mm, it might be ok.
Dont fancy selling that inlet do you? Lol
I think you will break into the water jacket at 45mm. I've cut them open before. What I do have though is a MK1 astra inlet which has a 46mm hole! It also has longer inlets which aid torque. PM me if your interested.

You're welcome to the inlet for free if you collect and remove it yourself :p.
How deep does the throttle body sit in the hole? You could get something made up to sit between the throttle body and the manifold if its not very far, and just countersink the hole in the manifold?
Atm i have a plate i made that the TB bolts to, and then the whole lot bolts to the 1.3 inlet.
But its not the best, as the middle part of the 1.3 manifold has like two edges, that will be restricting flow. As its a twin choke manifold
So i was thinking if i could make the 1.2 manifold to 45mm, i would have straight flow through the TB and directly into the inlet, with no restrictions.
Heres one i did earlier lol
Red is the area that air can flow into, blue is where the inlet currently blocks.
I've just used some calculation program to work out that my throttle body can flow for about 110bhp, so the more air i can get in, the better.

Im not too good on paint lol
So, a 1.2 inlet to use would be cool, and i was in wrexham this sunday just gone! :(
Ooo, missed gary's post.
PM sent :)
