View Full Version : Dream Job

This is kinda linking from Jack's thread about how boring his job was. And I was wondering what your dream job would be.

I'd love to be an English Literature teacher. (Am currently in the processing of studying to be one!)

Or...a pornstar...obvious reasons! :D

Or...I'm not sure what else. A prison guard seems exciting and interesting. But I don't spect women are allowed to do that as they'd probably get quite a bit of harrasement!

I don't really know what I want to do. Archaeology, network maintenance/installer, PC repairs and building, photographer, landscaper... I like to be physically doing things.

Ooh, no, Lego designer/tester :D

I'd like to say being a primary school teacher as thats what I'm studying at uni, but the reality of it would be a major shareholder in microsoft or something and have lots of money for not much work. I'm lazy as and not very motivated right now, perhaps when I get into the classroom and earning a wage it'll be better! Still, being a bloke, the opportunity for promotion in education is there....

I don't think there actually really is such a thing as a dream job.
even porn stars must think 'Oh No not that again' as Ron Jeremy proceeds to perform a scuttling.
I really enjoy what I do, building things, mending vehicles, driving huge diggers, some demolition, but some days when I am covered in rain & clay, I think 'why did I leave that office job'

i would love to be a copper! preferably on the roads driving an omega or whatever high powerd motors they have! catching theiving scum and not being a prick to the legal drivers. but with my dad having a criminal record as long as his arm i think they might turn me away if i apply. and its just having the balls to tell my family im a copper lol
but other than that i would like to start my own recovery company as the one around here charges massive bills and i like seing smashed motors and driving. and i also think i could make a fortune providing i had the premises to store cars and a good vehicle or two for pulling cars out of hedges and ditches.
so there ya go my jobs arent much but i would enjoy both of them!

A dream job would be to find something you enjoy doing, and get paid for it.

Eg. If you like playing computer games, become a games tester. You'd get bored of the same game day in day out after a few weeks of testing and reporting bugs, but then the game is done, goes to market, and something else comes in for you to play instead.

I like my work to be rewarding, so i feel i have achieved something at the end of it. At the moment i dont really have that, i have to fudge it in my head so that i convince myself that i am achieving this great good deed by producing a set of financial or management accounts for a client lol
That said, when i write a business plan for someone and they then go off and secure finance for their venture, and come back later for accounts and show they're making money - thats quite satisfying - but its their hard work, i just make the number look good.

Ideally, i wanna be a doctor, but can't be ****d with the training.

my new jobs sucks the big one !! no-one cares about the standard of work but worst of all no-one seems to speak to each other - ever !! its so boring but as its only temporary i can survive (i hope)

my ideal job is electrician - i prefer working in an industrial enviroment because theres no rush so stuff doesnt get slung in or bodged and you can take pride ion your but working on new build is good money (guy i was working with last year was on 35k+ never worked past 4 and in the pub for 1 on a fri but ive seen some terrible workmanship (all trades not just sparks)

the painters who did the interior on our house were seriously shoddy. Thinnest skim over of paint i've ever seen. Oh well, we've repainted pretty much every wall within the first 2 years anyway lol

Pro drive is only up the road ;)

I think I'd like to co-own with my dad a business that designs web pages (my part) /computer repairs/software installation (his part.) With just the two of us.. no other staff to start with. Possibly with an internet cafe too.

Hence the web page design course I'm starting in January. He has various networking/pc repair qualifications that he's done.

Only problem is he isnt getting any younger :D

i would love to drive one of those HUGE tipper/dumper lorries or diggers that be used in quarrys...my granda was co-owner in a few quarrys over here before he died..an being around those from a very young age with my da kinda lodged the idea in my head..now the bigger the machine the more i want to drive it lol..

my step dad when i was growing up had a tipper truck - he drove for Tarmac delivering gravel from a quarry to building sites etc. I used to ride around in it with him when he worked saturdays. Much fun playing with the c.b. and pulling the loud horn etc.

i did tipper driving for a couple of years. it really isn't that good. transport office staff are the biggest liars in the world. you get to a site with an artic full of stone & there are sparkies vans scattered everywhere, someone then always wants you to tip it across a slope so it will tip over, and the hours are ****, Oh and the police are always pulling you over for pathetic reasons.
I also did brick crane work as well, If someone annoyed me, they would find 2 packs of bricks behind their car with the forklift holes facing the wrong way, so they had to manhandle 1000 bricks.

/\ lol!

i think you'd want a job you'll enjoy not love, bucause if your doing what you love at the time then:

a) you'll get bored

and

b) you'll have nothing to look forward to

for this reason i'd want lots of part-time jobs, keep me intrested - get bored of one go to another, but still have contacts at the old place. Eg: work for 888 racing, and and graphic design company then i can jump between two things i like, and maybe an electrican on the side, and car audio installer, etc, etc

Dear Mr Faker,

We regret to inform you that we have rejected your application to model, and represent our product, TROJAN CONDOMS.

Although your general physical appearance is not displeasing, our Board of Directors feels that your wearing of our product in the advertisement does not protray a positive, romantic image for our product. A loose, baggy condom is NOT considered romantic.

We did admire yor efforts to try and firm it up by using poly-grip, but even then it slipped off before we could get the photograph taken. We would like to note, however, that yours is the first we've seen that looked like a bicycle grip.

We appreciate your interest and thank you for your time. We will retain your application for further consideration, if by chance we decide there is a market for micro-mini condoms.

We send greetings to your wife and our deepest sympathy.

Sincerely,

Burley Dick, President
