Cant go wrong with Avo's, as long as you buy them new, as used ones tend to pop seals when you start fiddling with the ride height.

thanks BT...wats the lowest that they lower by???...would it take much work to get a nova down 100mm+???..btw itll be on 15" cav GSi rims...

i use the avo's, the rear is about 1/2 way down adjustment, the fronts have a few more threads to go.............

AVO's are great but when you start getting low on the front there isn't much travel left on the shocker. A good friend of mine had some shockers made up and they are great(Single seater). If you knew the exact dimensions of what you wanted you could get them custom made. However they are alot more pricey.

thanks lads.... dan wat spec are those avos your using??? what is the max that they lower by in mm's..??? did you have to do anything to the arches or did the car lower over the GSi rims no problem??? does the front wheel catch the arch at that level or could it go down the remainder of the threads with out catching???

thanks again lads :D

for custom coilovers try GAZ as they make shorter body dampers to allow lower running.

most cars lower differently in relation to what they started at (ie my shagged 1.2 on std suspension had a lower ride height than dans bilstein -35 setup lol. best bet is to go for a floor to sill measurement in all honesty.

well my nova started life as a petty 1.0 pishrod if that helps lol... so its kinda monster truck lookin lol...

i seen a set of ones on e-bay a week or 2 ago an they were supposedly* -120mm.. i jus took them as cheap jobbies that would fall apart in no time..

Have a look at Nitron (http://www.nitron.co.uk/shop/) coilovers

i dont even need to click on the nitron link to know that they cost big cash lol. its about ?1500 for a decent set for the vx lmao

spax, avo or gaz will do you. and seeing as you want it mega low im guessing you dont care too much about the way it acutally drives etc so getting shortened bodies is merely a nice option lol.

is the car stipped out btw? if its not then id advise getting the rear suspension mounts re-enforced to take the weight as that thin piece of steel isnt designed to take the back end weight of a loaded car ;)

Well you did ask what was the best and they are quite good. Plus you can get them custom built, so they can go as lowwww as you want. But yeah ferking expensive.

erm i just run the avo coilovers lol, cant remember the brand name but theres only one option if you want coilovers all round.

No i havent had to do anything to mine for clearance but i seem to have landed a rear beam on this car that sits dead central :) the fronts have 'buffed' the paint down to the primer lol but that was mainly caused by track use which if far harsher than you would find on the road.

As stu has said how much they lower is irrelevant imo, a fully stripped car needs alot more to drag it down than a semi stripped or road going version so comparisons cant be made from mine. i have set it up to my own personal preferences to handle and get every last bit i can from the chassis. the way i have done this wouldnt mean anything to you.

no stuart im not bothered too much about perfect handling...im not buildin a track car.. tho it will be stripped out...

thanks dan... how much did yours set you back??? if you dont mind me askin...

or if you want the lowest possible ride height, remove the rear suspension completely, and run 13's lol

It puts your spare wheel well about an inch off the floor, and you can use the tyres as dampers lol, just dont jump off any hump back bridges

I run the avo's and have got them wound down close to the bottom of the thread.

The ride on the track is awesome but on the road it crashes and bangs. Be warned.

Simps.

has anyone fitted rear avo s that are height adjustable like the front .there was a lad on e bay selling some but they are gone now you have to modify the inner arches appearently anyone done this

This is what i run as stated at the start of the thread, no initial problems here, but some people have had to tap the inner arch with a hammer a small amount, i did mine without even checking and found i didnt need to after all, but it made for abit more freedom anyways lol

(ps thats the height they are set at in comparison to the picture of my car also, so more than enough adjustment on the rear lol)

Haing been down the run as slow as possible route myself Id say Dont bother it will just cause you problems! Ive got the avos and they will go as low as you like but you will soon get bored of driving round like that!

Im gonna wind mine back up for the summer, want my car as drivable as possible!

Just to double confirm that its not a problem I ran 7j wheels with these and only had minor rubbing that was easily fixed by clever positioning of the spring. I don't know what engine you have in the car but if its a big block then specify 300lb springs for the fronts if you are buying the shockers from new.
