Had my 1.4 8v spi nova on the rolling road this morning.
Rollers seem about spot on accurate too with a few about std cars making 1 or 2 bhp of std book power.
No pics unfourtunately as i got there and realised i'd forgot the cam  lol

Anyways, 84bhp@the rev limit(6100rpm), not bad for a 59bhp 1.4 SPi engine, 82.3 lb ft@ 4681rpm :thumb:
That was with an almost cold engine too, peak power went up with each power run as the engine warmed up, im not even sure the ecu was even in closed loop mode :wtf:
Anyways,
only thing stopping more power is the stupid gay low spi rev limit.

Good work :thumb: Could you tell me some of the work that has been done? :)

spec is:

18nz Throttle body
13sb inlet manifold ported to match
c14se cylinder head
4 branch tubular manifold
xe heated lambda sensor
14nz bottom end complete
14nv camshaft
st 14nz ecu and loom etc. (with stupid 6200rpm limit)

Made similar power and torque to mine, but mine had the cam timing out by a notch and was overfuelling at the time lol. Dunno how accurte dastek are, but the rest of the cars seemed believeable on the day??

lol @ "other cars were making book power" aside form some would be worn out/manufacturers over exagerate power plus a cunning RR operator can make every single car make different power :)

well done for the spi.

Spec is as Al said.

I guess of should of gone for a blast about before i ran it, made sure it was 100% warmed up.

Ahh well.

thats amaizing - a cool, random bunch of mods that mostly can be ripped off scrapped/broken other vauxhalls for little outlay - wonder if they do the trick for mpi engine'd novas too..?

nope, since I plundered the head from an mpi and then bodged the manifold to match. The only worthwhile bit on an mpi is possibly the cam.

The Sri(14se) cam is slightly tamer than the 1.4 Sr cam.
Perhaps better torque tho, not sure.

I have most of the nova cams in my loft somewhere, Lol, possibly something to try in the future.

Im sure theres a nice bit more power from it, if you would let you rev the engine to about 7k.

The biggest expense on for the engine was the exhaust, at ?60 off ebay,Lol.
Rest were ebay bargains/people off here/mig, and they i diy built it.

Best thing for the 1400mpi is Grp A build type of thing, mappable management.

Cheers for that Al.
Hmm, might get another inlet, and take those side walls right to the limit, by that i'd say my current inlet has about 1-2mm of that side wall still there and is costing me vital Air flow,Lol.

sigh...

An Astra 1.3 cdti (11k, 06 plate and standard) with book bhp of 99bhp, made 98.9 and 99.9..

On another note, my car broke the rollers ;)

Lol :thumb:

Im using that excuse for mine not making more power, you must have thrown the rollers to read low :plol

I might go again sometime and give the car a good caining before it goes on, as it had been sitting about 3hours when it was run yesterday.
