just a thought, im already sick of this 1.6 8v

what would i need to do to convert it to 16v? just change head and ecu? or will i have to modify the exsisting loom?

cheers ta very mooch!

youll need a whole engine not just the head - the bay seam welding and strengthning, driveshafts (TD, GTE, 22 spline inners if you can found them, cav 1.6 outers i think) loom from donor car, exhaust has to be modified aswell i think

Can you not just change the head? Like on the c20ne (i think) you can change the 8v head to a 16v one, seen that done a few times and even turbo'd. Ive never seen anyone put a c16xe or x16xe head onto a e16se or c16se so im guessing you cant.

if you 1.6 16v you can use your existing gearbox and driveshafts but if you mean 2.0 16v and big gearbox they will need changing as said above

far less hassle to get the 16v engien complete than to convert an 8v bottom end..

yep, simply unbolt old engine, bolt in new engine wire up, go drive:thumb:

cheers, engine i kinda understand, it will be the 1.6 small block, not going boig block

its more the extras, like loom, do i have to modify it or a complete new loom?

and fueling? change tank or just pump?

plan on keeping the grbox and driveshafts, as the shafts or corsa 16v gsi shafts and cost me 140 notes, what about inlet manifold, will that need changing as well?

Your pump/tank will be fine if your running a MPI setup now.
You'll also have to play about with the exhaust/downpipe to get it to fit a nova.

sorry, should of said, this would be for the corsa, reason being, engine aint doing anything helpful for me being in the corsa, its a nightmare, so i was thinking, new 1.6 16v mpi into the corsa, then drop the 8v into the sr and carb it!

my main concern is the ecu/loom, will i not have to modify this at all? as its the part im dreading the most!

cheerz ta very mooch!

right then. state EXACTLY what engines you have in what cars and then what you want to do with them... otherwise how the hell can people help you if you dont give full information....

ok

in the corsa, i have a 1.6 8v nova gte mpi engine

in the nova, i have the 1.4 8v carb sr engine

the corsa engine is crap, but so is the sr engine (actually, its just the carb that facked!)

i want to put in a 1.6 16v mpi into the corsa and drop the current 1.6 into the nova, along with a new carb

i dont want to overly tune either, but i do just want them both to run sweet with no problems!

just bung the1.6 8v into the nova WITHOUT the carb... otherwise your going lose power and driveability ;)

and sling a 16V into the corsa as per the usual route (bound to turn something up in the search)

thats what i want to know, what i would need, and how to do it

the nova converison would be easier, i understand that one a bit, more, but the corsa conversion is a bit more complicating!

sell both, buy a corsa sport or GSi, and buy anova GTE or GSi

Easy peasy!!

Then u will have a 1.6 16v corsa and a 1.6 8v nova!!
