Could u just get any K&N or Pipercross cone filter from any car and just attach it to a bit of Samco hose or summit, then attach the other end of the Samco hose to the carb? (this is on a mk2 1.2 carb)

i know a bolt on filter bolts directly onto the carb, but could u use the method i have suggested above? Cos u can pick up a second hand K&N for peanuts :D

Plus, if u get a long enough bit of hose then u could put the cone closer to the grille giving it more air. (not right up against it cos if it rains or whatever, or if it's freezing it gonna fuck up the cars running)

what do u lot think? SSSSSSSSSteven??? (with a whistle)

Sounds like a good plan to me, but don't make the inlet tract too long, you could duct cold air to the filter.
