Dodgy petrol gauge

i fitted a set of white dials in my novasr and i was going down the road and the petrol gauge said quater full so i though id b ok then next fink i know i run out whats the best way to set it up ive tryed takin the sender off the petrol tank the settin it that way but it still dont work any1 got any suggestions cheers cause its doin my ed in x-(

It may be that you have put the dials on, and it isn't quite stuck down properly? My mate did this in his mrk 6 escort, he let me have a go, so of course I floored the fucker :D and it seemed to stay at 4000rpm then bounced round to 6500 - 7000 :O, I don't think I have ever changed gear as quick B-). It's worth a try.

did you line up the needle right when you put on the dials? what does it say when you fill the tank up?

take the sender out and set it to half then set the needle to half too
