Hi guys, been away from Novas for just over 10 months and am getting back into them with a D-reg Nova Saloon that's got 8000 miles on the clock, you may have seen it on eBay last week. Over the 8 years that I had owned Novas (first being a 2 door saloon hence this one) I had collaborated mountains of Nova bits and had spent 6 months selling these off only to now regret doing this as I'm starting from scratch.

The point of this thread is,

Do I leave this Nova (which is absolute mint and will get pics up soon) in standard form as an act of respect, or, do I let my imagination run wild?

There's not a lot of these cars left and none that is in this condition....

I've two low mileage novas. Both 3 door. Ones a 1985 1.2L with 13k (i got it with 4k) and a 1990 1.4L with 8k on the clock.

I say do whatever you want. I've put new GTE stuff on the 1.4L and i'm doing a full 16v, diffed, 6 speed turbo on the 1.2L.

I say well done for comin back to novas, and to not let your ideas run wild, but to keep it simple n tidy. Lower it on some nice 16's, straight thru exhaust with sensible size tip, sr bumpers etc, then slap a 1600 in there on TB's.

I agree with the simple but Tidy approach, but one things leads to another and before you know it the wife's left you and you can no longer reach the front door for parts. I am thinking or getting it re-sprayed (it's not the greatest colour of blue) and waxoyled (spelling) to keep it in good nick for longer as it will be a daily runner as my other passion lives in the garage and only comes out at weekends. Lowering is a must, but would prefer 15's rather than 16's. The car is as basic as you can imagine so everything can be improved, it's just, where do you stop??????

Cheers for the comments guys.

That's nasty mate. Everyone get out ok?

Mine only flipped onto it's roof and slid 40 yards fortunately (I think).

Mod the nuts off it. so long as you dont cut out the fr panel to use some wrong headlamps or cut holes in the sides of it for vents it'll be reversible.

Not like a low mileage saloon is sought after like an SR or GSi would be.

Deck 60mm on a decent shock and spring kit, get a rear ARB, fit poly bushes (or just new ones), run 15s with decent rubber (Eagle F1s et al) and fit a GSi/SRi interior. Keep it subtle, no one likes a cheesy modded saloon with Halfrauds ally wing on the boot lid!!

If you use a mk2 saloon rear bumper, you can make a nice deep valance by using the upper half of another mk2 bumper attached to the underneath. This is usually the hardest part of making a saloon look good, no one did a sporty rear end for it.

I might look out for a saloon TD as my next runabout.

Which one is this off ebay as there was a dodgy one with no v5.

I'd say the 2dr saloons are growing in popularity. If I find one at the right price I'd have it, wish I'd never sold my old one :(

If you want a derv saloon you'll be looking for a long time, unless you build one yourself lol

luckily i was alone the only bit of the roof which wasnt touching the seats was a small rectangle above my head it wasnt a fast crash just that it went on its side then rolled onto the roof and hit a nasty stump of hedgerow which killed the momentum hence the damage!
