View Full Version : De badging the re badging
I want to remove the Vauxhall and Nova badges on my car and replace them with Opel Corsa A badges (if I can convince my cousin to go round the scrap yards in S. France). What is the best way to remove the badges without damaging the paint and what is the best way to re apply the badges I get?
Also there is a factory sticker with Merit written on it, only just noticable over the gunmetal metallic paint. How best to remove this? Cheers, Dan.
Hot air gun or hairdryer to heat the badge, then again with a plastic scraper and touch of meths to remove any residue.
To reapply the stickers, measure up where you want them and use some masking tape to line up the stickers in the right place. I'd recommend getting new badges off ebay rather than using old ones, on my saloon I got some of the "chrome" corsa b lettering.
A realy easy way to remove the badges is pour a kettle full of boiling hot water over them and after a few minets they prettymuch fall off. lol
Put a level line of masking tape wear the badge is going and line them up with the top of it. Id also recomend getting some new badges off ebay as they have brand new adheasive on the back :thumb:
Forgot to mention - use a spirit level to make sure the masking tape is straight when marking out where to put the replacement badges ;)

This will be fine aslong as the cars level lol
I used hot water then gum turpentine to remove the glue, which worked a treat. I've now got dark 'outlines' of the badges though. I might leave it debadged so how would be best to polish these out? The colour is a metallic gunmetal so I'm not sure what my options are!
