i am really tempted to do a 2.0 8v/16v redtop conversion into my nova for a track car but i need to know what excactly i will need/change. I know i need a engine mount conversion kit, i was going to order this (http://www.chrisastleymotorsport.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=35&osCsid=15284e57fb4920159b668af20fd6b016) but is this the right thing? What else will i need? Also heard about different shafts and mk2 cav inner cv's and different hubs? Can someone please tell me EVERYTHING that i need and where i can get them. Website links would be great.

Thanks Greg

The drivers side enginemount is changed, you will need a spacer kit for the rear gearbox mount but the front gearbox mount stays the same unless you run an f28 (which you won't be). If you get that kit in your link above that will be everything.

Things you will need:-

Complete Engine, Loom and g/box
Shafts, either 22 spline GTE ones and 1.6 cav inner cv's or custom big shafts
mk2 astra water pipe (side of head to heater matrix - I think)
Injection fuel tank and lines (depending on what model you already have)
Your downpipe will need mating to your system.
Uprgaded brakes and higher poundage front springs
single slot bottom pulley

There the things that will get it in and running then depending on the quality you want the conversions will depend on what extras you want to buy.

i have a complete 2.0 8v cav sri engine with loom and gearbox, all pipes and radiator. I have all the cav mounts, so where do i get the spacer kit? What mounts will fit straight onto the car, just the front gearbox mount?

buy them from that chris astley guy.... The chassis leg will need altering also... You can run without the spacers. I have on all my conversions. you need to buff the rear mount so it sits flush with the gearbox.

what needs done to the chassis leg? Never heard about buffing the rear mount? what do u do and where abouts? Is that on the nova engine mount, cav mount or the mount i get from chris astley? I will order that kit.

For how much the kit is you might aswell get the whole lot. The Chris Astley kit will come with what you need.

You retain both the gearbox mounts but you use 3 spacers and 3 long bolts on the rear mount like in these pictures. You have to grind a little off the mount but not much.

The front engine mount is a specially made bracket which lowers the setup by 1.5".

Hope this helps.

As far as modded the chassis leg goes you need to make clearance room for the alternator. Some people bash it in with a hammer. I cut and boxsectioned mine. I also had a section taken away to give more clearance for access to the bottom pulley.

As long as you take your time, try and think ahead as to where thing goes then it will be easy. Its not a tricky conversation. Wiring is very easy, only a few wires. Drop me a PM if you get stuck at any point.

its not difficult.. most of it is common sense... Take your time with it... If you rush it thats where things go wrong...

Go onto migweb, LOADS of info on it there.
