View Full Version : mot fail?
when i bought the nova, it had the 3 seat belt clips and centre seat belt on the back seat, but no belts, will this fail the mot?
cheerz ta very mooch!
How old is it? Cant remember the year when rear belts became compulsory. If your Nova was born before that date, you can remove them, but id fit some belts as if youve got someone unrestrained behind you in a frontal impact, you can come off worse!!
Either that, or remove the rear seats completely for the MOT
H-reg, my seat belts are grey, gona have to go down the scrappy anf look for a set
cheerz ta very mooch!
Ive got a full set of rear belts i just removed from the greeny meany if you fancy a drive down to Bristol on Monday lol
If you have seats, you also need belts on a H-plate.
Think it was 1985 or something belts were needed.
lol bottlethroddy, if i knew that, my gf's dad could of picked them up for me, he went to bristol yesderday, got family down there, i might as well go to the scrappy and pick up a cheap pair
thanks anyway though!
np, ill use them next time i tie up Stu lol lol

They became legal in 87 I think, along with side repeaters.
There is only need for both outer belts to be fitted, but if there is no back seat then there doenst have to be any belts iirc.
Post April '87, and you have to have at least one three-point inertia reel (or two lap belts/three-point static). If you have seats, you'll need belts; or if the seats are removed and the belts remain (I would assume even if its only part of the belt) they still have to work.
just wip the back seats out only takes 5 mins todo then you can get away with it
