nob, well kibbys was quite nippy for a 1.0 beat 1.2 nova's/corsa's and kept up with most other cars around the streets so just get it!cant go wrong, and get rid of your beast! (mk3 escort estate) :thumb: im going into the ford scene i think for a while before i can insure and run a 20xe.

My project nova started out as a 1.0 Spin, not really that bad for a 1.0 but 4 speed gearbox done my head in, was surprisingly quick up the speed (to about 80!!), good starting engine, would think those engines are bomb proof but saying that mine only had 30k on it, mine wasnt that thirsty and it had a burst exhaust at the time!!!!

****ing wicked little engine. I messed with mine a bit when i had it in my saloon, could easily keep with the sr boys and saw 110mph out of it. And yes totally bomb proof.

Buy it for the shell if its the right price. Then drive the wheels off it. If you don't mind the lacklustre performance, stay with it, if you can't stand it, stick a larger engine in. There are plenty of good engines in rotten Novas.
I wouldn't of thought theres much point in trying to up the power with this engine, if your lucky it might generate as much as a 1.2! Just service it and make sure its running sweetly.
Are these engines cam in head?

basically every standard fit petrol engine/box will fit straight in. my g reg mk1 1.0 has got a 1.6 gte fitted & absolutely no bodyshell mods were needed. ok a few pipe/wire things were needed, but that was it.
if it runs then drive it till it drops then stick a good ohc motor in.

Nitrous it till the engine dies.. i bet on a progressive system you could push 100bhp into the fecker lol. then when it does die. fit a 1.6/2.0 and keep the nitrous on that for fast drag runs.

You'd need fuel pump etc if you were fitting an injection engine.

Rather than spend money on the engine, you'd be better off spending money on handling, weigh reduction and brakes. At least you'd be able to keep a bit more speed through the corners so you won't feel quite so slow! :thumb:

I have the curse of a 1.0 in my nova. Its the slowest car in town. im bein whopped by 1.1 saxos, 1.0 corsas, 1.2 corsas and 1.5 dtraight diesel 106s. Then again it could just be my engine. any ideas onb how to get a bit more power out of o a 1.0 OHV?

I would honestly pay to see that, not much though!

Turbo it!! lol, should be a fair bit easier with a carb compared to injection!! Would be nearly worth doing for a laugh!

are you on drugs. turbo with efi is WAY better/easier than with a carb.

anyhoooo atleast with nirous you can move it onto another engien/car when youve kileed this one. whereas spending circa?2K on a turbo setup for it will be unique to that engine and worth less

Lmao remember someone doing that to a 1.4spi fitted 100bhp on it without a controller then proceeded to rap the tits of it until he fitted a 2lt with the intention of blowing it up. It held together an still ran fine when we ripped it out. lol
