That is one neat engine bay! I shall be starting mine in a few weeks just going to extend and hide as you say.

Where did you get your scuttle cover from?

Hide most of the bay wires through gap between the outer and inner wings.
Which it looks like Benn has done.

i made the cover my self, and will be doing a few templates,

and the best way is to cheat, well i think its the best way, other might think its cheating,

get two looms, and join them,
its really only matching colour, its still hard worktho,

and yeah i have ad,

Looks cool as fook benn, ok so getting two looms is the easy option like you say connect wire ffor wire, but where do you yhen bring them into the engine bay to connect to engine?

Benn
08-10-06, 01:28 PM
where ever you wanna,

i pluged one loom in,
then ran it as far as i could, then cut the org car loom and joined them,

you dont see mine at all,bar when it connects to the head lights,

Good thread. Some pics of looms being modded might be usefull.

I think RJM25R has some wiring pics on his WIP thread for K95VHD.

want no wires?
or just out of the way?

just out of the way, how did you secure the wires to the inner wing?

i was thinking about running them along the top of the chassis legs (wheel arch side) as there is a little recess and this would also limit the amount of cutting to the fire wall etc.

also thought about inside the chassis legs using some drain holes etc, would defo require an old wire coat hanger though! lol

PS, where the fook is your coil!?

dont go in the chassic rail,
thats a night mare,

if you just want tidy, Pclip the winger under the lip of the wing in the engine bay,as it will only be semi seeable,
cause then you wont need to take it out of the main hole in to the engine bay in the top right,

coil? hidden away with the header tank and a few other bits...lol

Have you got any pics of when you extended the wiring loom, and where u ran it? Also where you decided to bring the wiring into the engine bay because on the pic you posted i cant see any!!!

Where did you manage to hide the water hoses to??

Benn
08-10-06, 05:02 PM
my loom comes in to the back right where the headlight is,so you can just see it with ya end in the engie bay, water hoses are easy, getting them made is polished metal is harder...

Benn
08-10-06, 05:09 PM
best one i have off hand, you can just see the loom sitting at back of the head light,it normal runs over the top so you can see the loom, just the brances off for the plug,http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/bennh/enginebayrebuild3.jpgand my bonnet cables gone as well...;)

cheshiresport
08-10-06, 06:12 PM

I've covered all my wiring in black conduit to make it look tidy and more factory looking. I hate the site of wires just wrapped in electrical tape because it always peels and starts to lack scabby.

I did do some lengthening when I had to wire in my new fans. I lengthened the loom that goes to the lefthand light so it sits on the lower crossmember.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/TheSimps/Nova/Nova%20LET%20Build/P1010085.jpg

This is probably the best pic I've got on this pc of my current bay (ignore the intake pipe and scuttle panel).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/TheSimps/Nova/Nova%20LET%20Build/P1010093.jpg

As you can see, its jus dressed in conduit and clipped in place with little silver spring clips that you can get in any hardware store.

I do plan to do a lot of lengthening of loom soon so will get some pics. As already said, best thing to do is take it down the inside of the wing.

Simps.
