Hi guys,

does anyone know the procedure of getting a cat D write off back on the road? And roughly how much an engineers report costs?

Cheers :thumb:

you dont need an engineers report - if you already own the car just fix and drive as normal, when you sell it the new owner will need to take it for a VIC (vehicle identity check) before the v5 is issued

if youve just bought it repair it and apply for the logbook, you will be sent a letter usually requesting the vehicle goes through a VIC, this basically ensures that it has been repaired correctly and helps prevent stolen cars bein ringged, once it passes you'll get a confirmation certificate and the logbook will be sent out, the test cost ?36 weekdays and ?46 on a sat (only selected vosa stations) mine took 15 mins depends what was done to the car - ive had to do this with 2 cat c write offs but my mate who bought a cat d didnt need to?

you just need to take any documents you have with you, mot etc, and you usually have to wait a few weeks to be booked in etc

any more info just ask
