im thinking of buying my old nova van back next month. what will be requierd to do an engine change from a 1.5d to a 1.4 carb? will the loom, fuel tank, engine mounts gearbox etc be ok?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as ive only ever done moderate engine work.

thanks :thumb:

Engine mount is different, (goes into chassis leg rather than on the side of it)

Wouldnt be too hard to modify/make up (Petrol mount is quite basic!)

Fuel tank would be different id think, theres no fuel pump that will work for petrol on them,(saying that carb shouldnt need an electric pump!!) the wiring would be different in bits aswell im sure. You shouldnt really need much wiring for a carb engine tho. Maybe some things im forgetting but theyl come to me if there is!

if i were you id stick a cav 1700td lump in and whack the boost up - much more fun, quicker and more economical

:thumb::thumb: Thought about it myself, going by what my 1.5TD was like, a 1.7 would be rapid! Very cheap to run too!
