1ltr gearbox

What gearboxes came on the 1ltr?
I thought it was only a 4 speed box but mine has 5, just wondering if they did a factory 5 speed box or not.

my 1.2 spi white novas a four speed my mates 1.2 carb is 5speed and the other 2 novas ive had been 5s al on carb

just 1.0's andy but they have a 5sp selecto on them so itwill say 5 on that but youll only have 4 lol

yeah the 1lt boxes are just that 1lt boxes, lol wont go on anything else

maybe its a GTE box as everything else on it is GTE

5 speedboxs wont fit mate , as the bellhousing if differrent

unless the nternals have been fitted but i dont know if thats possible ?

ive heard u can do summrt inside the gear box and put 5 speed in four speed boxes

1.0 boxes are f10s - however some late models were fitted with 5speed boxes but had the 5th gear blanked off by a plastic part on the gear stick (under the gaiter) i guess gm ran out of 4 speeds and couldnt be ****d to produce any more.

that doesnt really make any sense though does it?? Why would you sell a car that as a 4 speed that actually has 5 gears. Besides it would mean that in 4th the 5 speed would be screaming its nuts off compared to the other one with a 4 speed only box...right???

because fincance people "build" cars. and if say when the last batch of 1.0's were being made and they had run out of 4spd boxes, and had shut the line down for the 4spd's but the 5spd's were coming off the line then a finance person would say "make it look like a 4spd" and use a 5spd box since we are making them anyway (that would also bump the volume of the 5spd up so make the boxes even cheaper)
