whats the best way to go about tuning(the arse off) a 1.2 4 speed carbed merit cheaply?-Im thinking 1.3 cam, bolt on filter n a performance zorst, but what I want is as much power as I can squeeze out of it as I can, fairly cheap.how easy is it to drop in a 1.3 lump in?-is it really worth it?

Well, u could try doing what ive done...

Carb and inlet manifold from a 1.3 SR (needs to be plumbed in though!)
Performance back box
K & N replacement filter (not bolt on - makes winter startin a b******)
Drill air box :)

Adds a few BHP and makes the car more responsive

Plus other mods to make u corner quicker, like lowering etc

I have a 1.3 cam a performance filter (bolt on) and a peco back box. with out the cam it was rolling roaded with 12 bhp over standard, and that cam has made a significant improvement. so i recon its about 70-72 bhp at mo. Thats the same a a 1.3 and 1.4. and it kicked 1.3 ass b4 the cam anyway!!. really best option is a bigger engine which i'm doin in summer 1.4 bored out 2 a 1.5 with group a head piper cam and twin 40's. but i'm havin fun doin people in a 1.2 at the mo...........

Not worth trying to improve performance on a 1.2, go for looks, build up your N.C.B and then drop in a 2litre or something...
