Im planning on getting a custom exhaust made up next saturday, but im also planning on a redtop conversion next year and don't want to have to get a whole new exhaust made up. Does anyone know the recommended bore for the 1.4 and 2.0 redtop? would it be a 2" bore for the redtop?

Thanks for any info, Rich

i would go for at least 2 1/4 inch on a 2lt to be honest and that should be fine on a 1.4 as well.

Ive got 2.5 inch on mine but really need to go up to 3 inch

Thanks for the reply.

I thought if the bore was too big i would lose power from the 1.4

Standard nova bore is 1 3/4"
Standard XE bore is 2"

I wouldn't go bigger than 2" on a 1.4 tbh.
XE is best with 2" or 2 1/4".

I would get a 2" system, should be fine if your planning on keeping the XE standard ish?

the magnex systems you can buy or used to be able to buy for 1.4 - 1.6 novas were 2 1/4 inch im sure

I won't be keeping it standard on the xe. Planning for it to be lightened & balanced, port & polished head, cams etc. At a later date when money lets me probably throttle bodies and so on. I've still got plenty of research to do because to be honest im not 100% on what im talking about, but i do want to learn.

edited: I actually have a magnex system on there at the moment but its too quiet for my liking. And i just feel like a change. How can i measure the bore on it?

Most/All Magnex, Ashley etc Nova systems are usually 2" bore.

You can sometimes get 2 1/4" ones for higher spec engines.

I've just run a bit of string around the exhaust, it measured 6.5". I don't know how to work out the bore from it though?

I think i've work it out as a 2" bore, but im not sure. Going to a 2 1/4 bore wouldnt ruin any performance would it?

Assuming bore refers to the diameter (not too well up on it, sorry), a circle with 6.5 circumference has a diameter of 2 so yes. :)

Bore, as in Inner Diameter of the pipe.
