I have a 1.2 nova on twin 40's and i'm looking at fitting a cam to give it that little bit more wooof, i was wondering if anyone new of a company that make a perfromance cam for this engine or if one of the performance cams from one of the others engines will fit, or if there is a standard cam from another engine that will give me that little bit more

Cheers for your help

1.4SR is the choice from the standard cams.

OR go for something like a 285/300deg one from piper/kent/catcams.

will a 1.4 sr cam work in my 1.2, i was under the impression the dizzy drive was different, is the 1.4 SR cam different to any standard 1.4 cam, iv looked at piper and kent but they don't list anything for the 1.2, who are catcams, iv never heard of them

Just my 2pence...

You see loads of people runing 300deg cams on standard, or lightly modified engines - that get used on the roads. It's pretty pointless, shoving all your power up at 7k Onwards, and having a crappy pickup !

If i were you, i'd go for something like an NVO'R (kent) or a similar profiled cam, it's only about 276Deg, but it's really progressive, picks up from 2k till 6.5k, perfect for a standardish engine.

(that's if yours is a daily road car, on a fairly standard engine)

i bought a 1.2 high lift cam from pipper cams cost ?330 give 12 bhp after 2000 revs. usually wat people do is put sri cams in the 1.2i and if it has the fuel pump on the cam rail people use the 1.4 sr cam.

Geoff H Good point, yeah the 1400sr dizzy drive is a PIN, not a SLOT like on your 1.2
Its the same as any carb'd 1.4 cam. SPI one is different tho.
A 1.3SR cam would fit, if you can find one.

Most aftermarket cams come with both dizzy drives. But you'll need to make sure it also has a fuel pump drive lobe.

I really havn't got ?330 to spend on a cam as this is only my cheap toy (so i tell the miss's) looks like i'm going to have to search for an SR cam if thats the price we're looking at new

to be fair, bad pick up is down to bad setup in many cases....
