View Full Version : downloading 'back-up' mp3 files
anyone recommend some sites for downloading MP3s, purely for back-up purposes obviuosly ;)
free sites preffered as last time i paid 66c a day for unlimited mp3 downloads as soon as i turned my computer off it wouldnt let me back in the site
apparently, bit torrent is supposed to be good if you are into popular music. http://www.torrent-spy.com/ but limewire is better if you are looking for obscure tracks (like rare drum and bass remixes that get played from a limited press vinyl on radio 1 at 3 in the morning once and once only!)
i dont like limewire, its seems to slow my computer down no end
thanks anyways

mp3search.ru used to be really good, I never used it but my housemates did. Its called gomusic.ru now. I'd use it if i had a credit card :(.
For backup purposes use iTunes. But if you just want free music then use any p2p software.

just rip the cd mate lol (thats probably not an option right? ;) )
I usually use Direct Connect which is adequate for what I need although limewire, kazza and morpheus are quite good.
I thought kazaa had been booted off the main p2p network it connected to?
eMule is excellent IMO.
I'm sure a remember on the news a little while ago about a legit site that was going to offer a load of tracks for free as they were being funded by on-site advertising? I think they had the full Universal catalogue available... Can't remember what the site was tho!

I think yahoo were proposing it.
No, definately wasn't Yahoo - it was a site set up specifically by some bloke... nuts, thats going to annoy me now.
