I have a manual Nova Merit that still has the original gear knob. I have just brought a new gear knob and to fit it i need to get the old one off. My gear knob has a normal reverse so i cud cut it off but id rather not can someone help me...

noooo dont cut it off!! lol all you have to do is give it a bit of a squeeze and turn and it will screw right off easy mate give it ago!!:thumb:

Sometimes all it needs is a good tug.
Seriously though... when you fit the new one, make sure you tighten up the grommet screws and if they keep coming back out then a bit of nail varnish on the thread before you put them back in will act as Lock-Tite.

I tried giving it a squeeze and twisting it and it dont work, have you got any other ideas?

I tried squeezing it again and it just come write off, thank you for your help.
heat it up slightly, or leave the car out in the sun so its really hot inside, will make it easier to pull it off
try using mole grips thats how i got mine off
