View Full Version : R1 Carbs to XE
can anyone shed some light on this please!
just a thought but i would like some more information!
price - roughly
and what is needed
cheers
bogg bros
think its about ?500. + dizzy setup and thats getting a little ahrd to come by iirc for an XE so thats going to cost a fair bit lol
imho bike cabs and Weber 45's cost about the same in the very end as you have to take a bike carbed car to a proper specialist to get them setup which may cost a lot in travel costs etc
yes bike carbs will techically be more useable due to their design and all that but if your only chasing power numbers and all that then there is naff all in it from the right tuners...
iirc bike carbs are the best for everyday use am i right?
they are move driveable... but then again if you go to a GOOD rr for t45 setup then they can be nearly as good..

Carbs off e-bay ?50-?150, send them to Boggy with around ?250 and they'll rebuild them and make up a manifold. He then sends them back to you, you fit them and then pay them a visit for a set-up session (about ?50).
that a pretty good price i reckon, what about dizzies etc ??

My 1600T40 is great for everyday use.
Don't even need to take it above 2k in any gear to keep up with town traffic e.t.c
On a long run at the weekend to the NW cheadle meet, i retunrned about 37MPG !

For an xe you just need to track down the right one from a 1.6 mk2 cavalier, it has to be the one with three mounting lugs I think, Graham Kirkbride might be able to supply a pic of one.
bogg bros will charge you ?480 and thats with you supplying the carbs , thats for everything except dizzy not including post ,it aint cheap and that quote was today

If your wanting bogg bros to fit r1 carbs to your c20xe then it will set you back just under ?700. I think they are better than webers but each to there own, I would have it done again :D.
If your getting it done by bogg bros then they will disconnect the parts you dont need but still leave the ecu running other parts.
You can use the car in this way but it will still limit at 6,750rpm (Think thats standard:confused: ) Also doesnt like motorway driving.
I run a 1.0l nova carb loom and a H&H igition system which are ?225 and it revs to the end of never and loves motorway:thumb:
HOPE THAT HELPS
ALSO DE-TEXT TYPED lol
no it didnt because that post is full of text typing crap... you know the rules!!! stop it :p
