Does anyone still have much problem with there hazard switch in a mk2? Mine broke so i went and got three more from the scrappy and none of them worked either. So i took them all apart and fixed them all. So now i have four perfect switches.

i know you can get replacements from vauxhall for about ?25 or off ebay for about ?16 but they dont spring they just pull on / push off.

Mine are still as intended (push on / push off) they just work.

Depending how theyre broken you can fix em, or can jus do the thing with the springs as ive done, and seems better once youve got used to it lol!!!

I fixed the springs on mine about 4 times, as they kept breaking about 3 weeks after each repair. So in the end just thought sod it and took the springs out lol

i have a mk2 and mine pulls out to turn on then pushed in to turn off. ive never taken any springs out of it and i doubt the old lady before me did either! the mot guy told me that it should fail on that as their meant to push in to turn on but ive never seen a mk2 that pushes in.

as a member of a nova community i think you should just post how you fix them instead trying to make a few penny's.

isnt that one of the points of the site, helping other nova owners?

they usally brake because you allways get that one dumb-ass who thinks hes clever by turning it upside down whilst grinning at you. t***

Fine! When you take it apart there is the little latch mechanism in there, its like a little swing arm, all of mine were bent up slighty meaning that it wouldn't latch on, thus the reason as to why it kept popping out. All you need to do is get some pliers on the end bend it back to 90 degrees again, lube it up with some grease then put it back together. Hey presto, one working hazard switch. It took me about 5 mins to work it out the first time then took less than about 3 mins to do the rest!

Get 2 screwdrivers on the bottom bit where the pins are, put one either side and lever it out, be careful though as they may spring out!

Yeah but even if it does its a 5 minute fix!

The advice was for the new nova owners who dont know how to do it! if they did, people wouldn't still be paying ?25 from vauxhall would they!

Well that depends on how the switch actually breaks, as i figured out how to fix em and i did 3 of my mates switches, but i came to fix the one out of my valver and found the metal swingarm thing had snapped off near the end so could not be fixed without taking the springs out, and i have had one where one of the plastic tabs on the lil black thing it clips in and out of had snapped and that one couldnt be fixed either, so its not always a guaranteed fix though, not trying to be funny just pointing out what ive spotted lol!!!
And for all of you have seen the unbreakable switches on e-gay, theyre just broken ones with no springs inside, cant break something thats already broken lol!!

Technically a MOT fail though. At the end of the day its not like anyone has paid for the info, if it works brilliant if not, so what you aint lost nothing!

argh giving away my secrets... noooooooooo

lol

its a simple mod that any1 with half a brain can do, the only reason why i made a killing was clever advertising and selling them at the same or less than a normal switch would go for on ebay. I havent had any stock in ages so just do the odd one here n there now.
