hi,
lltn thought that the 1.6 8v gte camshaft letter was D, but after taking the dizzy off today, i found that mine has a B stamped into it.
is this right?

anyone know what letters correspond with which camshafts?
It is D by the book.
But weirdly enough i also have a couple of "GTE" camshafts with the letter B.
However the ones with B also have a fuel pump lobe, which a GTE shouldn't have.
B relates to 1300sr iirc.
So i dont know what all that is about.

that is really odd...
when i bought the car i was told it was an uprated cam, but wasn't really bothered, picked it up for ?300.
never checked, until now :)
What engine is it?
A proper GTE one?

i dont have any numbers !?! just a B. could it be a reprofiled cam?
Perhaps Gm bunged some 1300sr cam's into gte's when they stopped making 1300 engines.. They aren't far different from GTE cams, in terms of lift etc. But 1300 has a SLOT dizzy drive, whereas GTE has pin.
Both my D and B cams have pin, but only the B cam has a fuel pump lobe.
