After covering 138k my 1989 Nova 1.3 SR has decided to give up, I am really only interested in Styling Mods and the opportunity for a new engine does little to excite me.

I simply am not prepared to carry out the awesome 2.0 16v Conversion, I know that you can fit other engines, e.g. A cavalier 2.0 or 1.8 8v Engine. Is this a straightforward conversion....or does it require loads of work. I am quite Tempted to fit a 1.5 TD lump if I cant find anything else!!!!

All suggestions would be appreciated, or do I really really need that 16v conversion???

Cheers Guys and Girls.

dont quote me but i think its easy, same engine mounts etc. the standard engine has 90bhp so easily 100bhp, with a few mods.

1.8 and above all require same mods as a 16v to fit, put a 1.6 gte in, alot easier., ull have a bit of a problem putting a diesel in as there a completely different wiring system and all that as well as all the fuel system. by the way i have a 1.5 td, there quite good, as quick as an sr easy., i was gonna put in the 1.7 td but have been told they dont fit due to different manifold . although im still sure they will.by the way there are quite alot of td around me, ill keep an eye out for any for sale.only prob with em is that there isuzu engines and they v expensive.
