I know these seats have been put into a Nova many times. Can anyone with the knowhow explain whats involved?
I'm still searching for the right set of seats, so havent got the seats yet but if anyone wants to help me with some pre-knowledge. That'd be cool. Pics? :thumb:
got no pics fella, but it just involes ubolting the subframe from the bottom of a nova seat and removing the rs seats subframe and simply welding the nova subframe to it , how you would align then correctly i dont know but it shouldnt be to hard when you doin it if you know what i mean

hmmm. So the Recaros are welded to the Nova's subframe.
Anyone ever bolted it? (not that I dont beleive you)
yeah normally mate , would be good if you could make some adaptor plates to bolt them in

Maybe you could explain how to do it !?
or do you have to buy the car to find out ? cunning lol
yer when i lowerd my seats i just welded the mount to the seat itself. i wouldnt do it again tho! sounds a good idea bolting them to the seats.
let us no how you get on craig once yo buy the seats etc
I bolted mine using 4 bolts, used the existing back 2 bolts (they line up 100%) & redrilled for the front 2, it's easy, seat belt clip requires a little modding, bracket needs hammering into an L shape, hole drilling, then fixing thru one of the back bolts like a washer.
Seats are much much better than std gte/gsi ones !!!
You will be sitting higher in the car though, so I hope you're under 6ft lol
Anymore pics NickWilliams ?
I'm having mine leathered now, should be back in a week :D
It was handy having them bolted on as the subframes needed to be removed for the retrim.

Exactly.. + half the foam will go up in flames when welding.
Nice; Nick Walliams btw. You beat me to it!
Just don't get in an accident!
Some of the old skool will remember the chap that stacked his car on the way to the MK Redline feature thing.. The bolts snapped off if I remember correctly.
I used steel nuts & bolts, but I guess I'll replace them with hi-tensile nuts, bolts & washers when the seats are back from the retrim guy.

Depending on what the underside of the RS seats is like, I will probabaly cut the brackets from the front edge of the Nova seats & weld onto the frame on the base of the RS seats. (hopefully) Then I should be able to use the same bolts etc.
Its a bonus that you can still get the bolster foams for RS Recaros.

But what about the rear brackets ?
It's easier to remove the RS subframe & fit the seat to Nova subframe
I didn't need to weld anything ;)

Ideal.
My comments above were based on having never seen the underside of an escort seat....
