First port of call is under your battery.

My battery tray has a hole in the bottom for a screw or something.

Windscreen rubbers can let moisture through aswell with some pretty drastic rust as a consequence in an area you never knew existed. (up in behind the bonnet hinges).

My car leaked through a hole with a cable running through it in the battery try where some bright spark has not replaced the grommet. Made a little puddle on the mat under the clutch, temporarily sealed it with a bit of blu tack! Thank god for rubber mats!
