ok i'll explain best i can, my nova has no fuel filter mounted on the side of the carb, and the woman i bought it off left a spare carb in the boot exactly the same but had a fuel filter mounted to it, i want to put the filter on my carb but im not sure of what to do with the overflow on the top of the filter, dont know if that makes it any clearer lol

Not sure what you mean by the overflow on the filter, the filter should just have an inlet & an outlet, you just fit it in-line on the fuel feed to the carb.

Buy a new filter then !!!! lol
The last few 1200 & 1300's i've had just had a filter with an inlet & outlet, should only cost a few quid from Halfrauds or somewhere.
