right going 2 go look at a c20xe engine monday nite its in an **** end smashed cav unsure wheather or not i can see it running yet but will no more monday all i know is its done 128 000 miles and i dont as of yet know any more about it just woundering what i should be looking for specificly

i know all about the coscast heads ect
i know 2 look for smoke what have u
and i know that most of them tap a little from cold

other than that is there anything specific to the xe lumps to look out for

also i am gona have the whole car for 50 quid regardless but would it be worth ripping out a mint recently rebuilt 2.0l 8v to replace it with a 16v?

You could always sell the 8v on and make a small profit... Or use the proceeds to give the XE a good service.

yes, more power for ?50 and you'll sell your existing engine for that or more!

For ?50, if its a runner, buy it.

Could check oil/coolant for GM porous head signs.

Apart from that tho, if it runs and sounds ok, no knocks etc, should be sound.

when i got there the guy was waving good by 2 it on a trailer he sold it 5 mins before i got there for 50 quid

to be fair non coscast heads are fine if you simply do the porous fix before using the engine....

Heard various stories on this over the years, initially they were only fitted to early cars, then vauxhall copied the head design themselves, but i've recently purchased an engine out of an l registered cav, with dis and a coscast head. :confused: :confused:
