astra starting problems

My bros astra 1.4 spi broke down last week,he said it got really hot and cut out so sounds like head gasket to me,but would it stop starting coz of that it does spark and sounds like it wants to go but im not sure what else to check any help from you guys would be great.

Take the top box off the throttle body(the air box thing)
And when cranking look to see if the injector is injecting fuel.


Also check for a spark on each lead, DONT test the spark tho when you've got all the air box off and fuel injecting in,Lol.
