gearbox question .

Ive just bought my first nova , its got an c20xe engine fitted ,

The problem im having is that when i change into 3rd gear there is a little sort of crunch, sort of feels like somthing is fowling the gear change .

it still goes into gear fine with a little extra force (nothing major) , just gets on my nerves and ****s up quick gear changes !!

Im wondering if anyone has experienced this problem before ??

or could point me in the right direction !!

any help or question s are very welcome !!

could be the shift linkage has come loose, i have a similar problem with mine in 3rd and 5th.

is that like the selector rod ?

can it be re tightened or needs new one ?

i'm not 100% sure, mines still like it... it's not "bad" just slightly annoying. there is excessive play in mine. it's where the shift linkage joins the rod and then the box.

my old 1 used to do it and i was told the linkage isnt lined up properly - wish i could be more helpful but i never got round to sorting it before i found out the car was rotten !!

I have a similar thing on my Celica - 1st and third can be a biyatch to engage sometimes. Was advised it could be the synchros... I might take a nose round the selector linkages as well though now..
