might have a bit of trouble carrying passengers, make sure you use shocks and springs i.e shortened shocks on the rear

Do you have the rear seats in? If no, you should be ok, but if yes and you intend to carry people in the back then I'd say roll the rear arches just to be on the safe side. Shouldn't cost much for a local bodyshop to do for you. Assuming by "right offset" you mean et49.

yer you'll be alright heres a pic of mine when i lowerd it abit more. and that was with no interior! so would have been lower with interior and stuff. but there was loads or room between the arch and wheel.

When my rear was lowered 60mm, with 15s, 195/45 tyres it used to rub if i hit a pothole or something.

The outer edge of the tyre on the arch lip.

aftermarket wheels are usually 6.5 or 7" wide

GM/Vaux rims are 6" wide. That'll have an impact on scrubbing. On a mk1 you can grind some of the lip anyway.

My mk1 is lowered 60mm on G-Max shocks and springs with 17" alloys, only one of the tyres catches on the lip (rear drivers side) and they are a dodgy offset.

So i should be alright when it comes to fitting my softstars when i get them.
