how much should i give for a 2l 16v engine&gearbox + wiring loom out of a J plate astra GSI? Its done 120k, doesn't tap on start up, doesn't smoke, no nasty noises, got some service history.

if its a minter the most i would pay is about ?250-?300

A mate has just bought a complete Cav Sri C20XE for only 300 quid - drove it 300 miles home - No problems !!!

You can pick up Engines pretty cheap now - due to them all being high mileage

Although it's always cheaper to buy a complete car and break it

Worth whatever someone will pay. I picked up an XE recently for 100quid and its in really good nick. Got an 80K Cally T for 500 last month aswell....

Just as austin said, i picked my engine/donor car up for ?210 and sold most the bits off it i didnt need meaning i got the engine for free pretty much.
IMO ?300 is expensive for a avg mileage xe, ?200 is ok, ?100 is a bargain.

You see plenty about for around the ?200 mark nowadays, and i guarantee you that if you look in the local free ad papers etc you'll see a cav gsi/sri in there, complete for about ?300.

yer i was looking at a 20xe cav the other day for like ?300 then seen one for 250 i think, just because it looked like a shed. lol

Theres a astra gte 16v champ for ?700 down here, cavy sri 16v redtop for 225, cally t on autotrader for 600, but its way oop norf!
