I am currently looking into including a standard pc (striped down to essencials) instead of a headunit, the plan would be to wire the soundcard output through to an amp and then just treat it as a normal ICE setup,

has anyone tried this in a nova? and if so did it work well?

Thanks

You'll need a special power supply, and if you don't want a keyboard and mouse hidden away then a touchscreen will be advantageous! Will probably require a specific operating system as well.

I keep meaning to have a go at this myself... have a wifi nic in it and transfer music across from my desktop PC :D

yer i was thinking that, when you look at the price of lcd screens anyway, you might aswell pay the extra for a touchscreen and be done with the keyboard etc.

as for operating systems it would have to be LINEX or sort, firstly its free, secondly its free, and finally its free lol

I think you mean linux. Have a browse at http://www.mini-itx.com/ and http://www.mp3car.com/

If I ever did a car PC install, it'd have a touchscreen and a griffin powermate neatly installed so it looked like part of the dash. Link. (http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_5445.html) :D

It depends on what you aim to do. You can rewire a Keyboard controler to respond to buttons as done by Hayden Smith (http://www.mini-itx.com/projects/headunit/), or there is the possibility of using a bluetooth projector keyboard.

Not been done in a nova as far as I'm aware, but look here (http://www.digital-car.co.uk/forum/) for the uk car pc site.
