engine swap help

hi,i have a 1.0 nova and have been given a 1.4 sr engine , does anyone know if the 4speed gearbox off the 1.0 will work with the 1.4 engine?:confused:

dunno but ive got a gear box that will 5 speed if you wanna buy it

i think it would work if its the same way as the fords do, i put a 1.1 box onto a 1.6xr2 engine, it was really fast up to 100mph nothing could catch it but any faster you would need to put 5 speed into it.

go for the swap, but do some research first ul prob need to change the radiator, and i dont think the box will fit. the 1.0 engine and that is a different set up from normal novas e.g. the diesel has a different chassis for the engine mount. so if ure gunna do it, do it proper and ull get no probs.
im not a sr luver but some will have done it before and they can give more info. gud luck pal !

You need the OSF engine mount from a OHC 8v engine/shell, as the 1L one is different.

The 4spd 1L box should fit fine, but you would really be better off with a 5spd, shouldn't cost much at all, might even get one free if someones done a engine conversion and has one lying about or something.

the 1lt box will only fit the 1lt, it has a different bolt pattern an small bolts that bolt it to the block
