How does everyone like to remove dooors from a Nova.

I havent attempted it yet but I'm not looking forward to it. Whats the best technique? What tools & how long does it take assuming it all goes to plan? ... It wont!

buy a door pin removal tool - there only about 15quid

get someone to hold the door, knock pins out - job done

you should have both off in less than 20mins

Its the easy way... plus is a lot more fun than banging your hand all the time.

I'm hoping to keep the doors as they are mint.

Anyone used a punch (drift)? What does a removal tool look like?

The door pin removal tool is the best for the job but..... i found it to be a little weak so expect some bending in the actual part you put through the pins. Plus the little head that you screw on will eventually knock itself small enough to fit through (you need to take off a lot of doors to do this)

Craig do you have new pins?
I've got a bag of them somewhere if you want me to send some in the post.

BIG BIG HELP, well its worked everytime for me!

Before you come to do it, fewnights or night before, fill the holes up with engine oil, open and shut the door a few times, check its still full, then leave it.

Loosens them pins right up :thumb:

The bonnet stay is the exact size for the door pins, give it a swift wack with a hammer to remove the pins.

my dad told me the best method was to use a bolt, after searching the shed for hours and never having any luck i went and bought a tool !!

A spare bonnet stay with the curly bit sawn off.

Got 1 off last night. The drivers side was in the dark a touch.

Bonnet stay works quite well. Nova door shut.. Hardly designed with access in mind though was it?

How many times did you hit your hand with the hammer?

I didnt.

But I put the hammer through the glove box in a moment of frustration (got off phone to Mum).. LOL

It is probably one of the most annoying jobs ever... definately not helped by close relatives in your ear hole.
