electrical problems!

ok last night my battery light and the(!) light went on while driving and now they stay on. What the hell is wrong? Has anyone else had this problem , if so waht did you do? thanx in advance.

It sounds like the alternator isn't charging.

Buy a new Alternator! or check the cables to the alternator

there was a bang from the engine just before the lights went on. Not an explosion kind of bang but more of a knock(if that makes any sense.)

ps how much are alternators?:)

Could be the alternator belt snapping, is it still there running the alternator?

oh crap i'm not sure , I cant get to my car as I am at work. I'll check on my break so keep your eyes on this post as I will have more info soon. nice 1 to all who is helping:)

what does the (!) light warn you of? MIne came on at the weekend, when the carbs went out of balance, now its not coming on.

That light is the handbrake light I think! I think it also comes on if you have low brake fluid!

nice one to Paul Jackson , you got it right fella. The belt had snapped I checked it when I got home. Went to halfords, got a new one , everything is laffin.thanx to all:)
